Anita ends up in relationships with the very people she kills: vampires and lycanthropes. Jean-Claude, the Master of the City (St. Louis), is a vampire who has great devotion
and desire for Anita. Although she ends up getting romantic with him, she still feels a little wary and cautious of him. Richard, a werewolf, is very much a puppy in love with Anita, but he
has such morales that he struggles with his furry side. He also tends to be very protective over Anita, and this annoys her quite a bit. Jean Claude and Richard are very much at odds with each other over thier feelings for Anita, but
because they are tied together with her as a triumvirate, they haven't ripped each other's throats out yet.
Edward does not approve at all of Anita's relationships with Jean-Claude and Richard. Although he acts civil towards them and hasn't blown their heads off,
he lets Anita know of his disapproval several times throughout the series. One of Edward's few but important rules is "You kill the monsters. You do not date them." Perhaps one of the reasons behind Edward's disapproval is the fact that there
once was a time when Anita herself had that same rule. It's a change in her lifestyle that Edward thinks is dangerous.
Last time Edward and Anita met up in the series, it was in Obsidian Butterfly, and at the time Anita was with Jean Claude and Richard. Things certainly have changed since then! It is not known if Edward is aware of Anita and Richard no longer being together, much less the other situations she has been in with other characters since.
